The Mena House Oberoi

Built in the shadow of the Great Pyramid of Cheops, the Mena House oberoi at Giza originally was a royal hunting lodge before passing into private hands and converted into a hotel in the 1890s. The Mena House has welcomed its fair share of VIP's from the worlds of politics and entertainment including Charlie Chaplin, Cecil B DeMille and in 1943 both Churchill and Roosevelt met here to discuss the D-Day plan. Today, now in the expert hands of the Oberoi Group, the interior and ambience are just as special. Though it may be a few miles from the city centre, its almost touching distance to the Pyramids brings it's own benefits. At dawn, when you can have them almost to yourself, and at night when floodlit, dominating the night sky.
